I think I have been charged twice

This may be a temporary hold. This is not a charge but a card authorisation by your bank. When you book a trip via the FREENOW app your payment method is authorised to ensure the payment method works/has sufficient funds. This usually shows up as 'Pending' and can also be displayed as FRN*hold.free-now.com on your online transactions. Although this isn't an actual charge, your available balance would've been temporarily reduced. Don't worry, you won't be charged twice! Once the trip is completed or cancelled, we charge the actual amount and automatically request the release of this temporary hold - depending on the provider/bank this can take up to 7 days. If the held amount hasn't been released after 7 days, you'll need to contact your payment provider/bank for more information. FREENOW are not able to speed this process up. If you've paid for the trip both via the app and with cash/card please contact our Support Team with all receipts attached.

Why is FREENOW pre-authorising my payment method?

This is to ensure that your payment method is working properly and has sufficient funds when ordering a taxi or hiring a service.

How much money will be held?

For ride-hailing, the held amount is usually the estimated fare amount. For eBikes and eScooters the hold can be higher than the cost of the service. Where this is the case, the actual charge will reflect the lower fare, and the temporary hold will be released.

When will my temporary hold be released?

FREENOW will automatically request the payment provider to release the temporary hold within 30 minutes for completed trips, and 15 minutes for cancelled trips. However, it may take up to 7 working days for the amount to be available again, depending on your bank and associated payment processors (Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, etc.). If after this time the amount is still not available in your account, please contact your bank for more information. FREENOW are not able to speed this process up.
